Video Gait Analysis is used to analyse the movement of the foot, knee and hip whilts walking and running
Many people when walking or running tend to ‘pronate’ which is where the arch of the foot flattens and therefore the ankle rolls inwards (and often the knee follows suit). This can cause a multitude of injuries at the ankle, knee, hip and back.
Correction of abnormal movement can be obtained with a specially designed shoe or with orthotics which fit inside your shoes. We will ask you to run and/or walk on our treadmill whilst videoing you from the back, side and front. This video can then be replayed, enhanced, slowed and paused to analyse the movement of your lower limb and measure the angles at your ankle and/or knee. Once your method of running/walking has been identified we will fit a shoe which supports/corrects your running style or an orthotic and re-video to determine if your gait has improved.
Unlike others who offer video gait analysis we also video from the side to determine if you are a ‘heel striker’ in which case require a heel with lots of cushioning or a ‘fore foot’ runner in whereby a less supportive ‘barefoot’ running shoe may be better suited
