Your first appointment consists of an initial assessment and treatment. During which details will be taken including your contact details, past medical history, any medication currently being taken and a subjective history of your existing condition.
We will then move onto the Objective assessment in which you may be asked to remove your shirt or put on a pair of shorts depending on where your injury is. We will note your range of movement, anything which reproduces your pain and perform ‘special testing’ for specific structures e.g. ligaments, cartilage etc.
Following this assessment we will be able to identify what is causing your pain and can progress with treatment. This can involve a range of techniques from manual e.g. mobilisation, manipulation, massage, traction etc, to electrotherapy e.g. Ultrasound to self-treatment e.g frictions, exercise, foam rolling and may include taping/strapping. We also have access to acupuncture, Video Gait Analysis and Clinical Pilates all of which may be involved in your rehabilitation.
Our approach to treatment is very ‘hands on’ we feel strengthening and stretching is best performed by the patient in their homes and the time in clinic should be utilised with more manual treatment methods to ensure the fastest possible recovery.
We treat all ages from 4 years to 104 years and all musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
