My initial interest in Physiotherapy came about after suffering a hamstring injury whilst competing in athletics. I had reached National level in the Heptathlon before having to give up due to injury. Despite seeing various Chiropractors, Osteopaths etc I never received adequate treatment/advice to allow me to return to my sport. This led me to begin working towards a physiotherapy qualification so I could give sportsmen/women the treatment and advice they required to return to their sport post-injury.

I began working as a Therapist in 2003. I graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a first class honours degree in Physiotherapy having first studied Sports Therapy at the University of Bedfordshire. I have worked with various football and rugby teams as well as swimming, athletics, gymnastics, cycling and triathlon clubs. I have worked for UK athletics treating the athletes identified as 'potential 2012' candidates, as well as working in a private clinic and as a Senior Outpatient Physiotherapist in the NHS.

I have lectured in Sports Therapy at the University of Bedfordshire and continue to lecture in Injury Prevention and teach cadaver anatomy to undergraduate students. I am due to have my recent work on knee injuries published in the International Journal of Orthopaedic Medicine.

Finely Tuned Physiotherapy has been running as a part time clinic since 2007 and I now feel it appropriate to develop it as a full time practice. The practice has a fully equipped gym attached available for all forms of rehabilitation. One aspect I have found surprising during my private and NHS work is how long people will put up with an injury believing there is nothing that can be done. Current research suggests the sooner an injury is treated the better the outcome. This is why I have decided to offer a free assessment clinic to make people aware of the options available to them in managing their injury.

The training I have recently been involved in includes work with the Physiotherapist heading up the Olympic and Para-Olympic teams. In October I completed a diploma with the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine and following on from this I intend to complete a diploma in Injection Therapy and finish my Masters Degree in Orthopaedic Medicine at the University of Middlesex.

From a personal point of view; following my Hamstring injury I took up triathlon - the cross training and endurance base means the torn muscle does not limit me and I now compete with the GB age group team.
